Grupo Distribución Directa is a Spanish online sales company of household products with more than 8 years of activity and a database that exceeds 120,000 contacts captured through online stores, social networks and lead capture campaigns.
The SMS channel is one of your main recurring sales engines: abandoned carts, order confirmations, seasonal promotions, and recovery of inactive customers. With open rates above 90%, SMS was strategic, but the results of recent campaigns had worsened for no apparent reason.

The problem: money sent to numbers that no longer exist
Grupo Distribución Directa sends mass SMS campaigns several times a month. When analyzing the shipments in detail, they detected that approximately 22% of the numbers in their database generated silent delivery errors: disconnected numbers, ported to another operator without updating, or directly incorrect captured in web forms.
With an average cost of €0.05 per SMS and a base of 120,000 contacts, each mass campaign meant sending about 26,400 messages to invalid numbers: €1,320 wasted per send, not counting the negative impact on the sender’s reputation with operators.
The marketing team couldn’t find the cause: the message was the same, the offers were good, the shipments went out at the right time. The problem was invisible until the quality of the database was audited.
The solution: validate the database before each campaign
Before their next season campaign, they uploaded their entire database to verificaremails.com using MNP validation to identify which numbers were active and which was their current operator. The complete process of the 120,000 numbers took less than 2 hours at a cost of €264.

FAQ Validate Phones
The HLR (Home Location Register) validation is the most accurate: it directly checks the operator’s network to confirm if the number is active and connected at that time. The MNP verifies the current operator and detects portability, at a lower cost. The syntactic validates formatting and prefixes without consulting the network. For SMS campaigns we recommend MNP at a minimum, and HLR when accuracy is critical.
Bulk validation per file takes approximately 1-2 hours for 100,000 numbers, depending on the method chosen. Individual validation via API responds in less than 2 seconds per number. You can upload CSV or XLSX files directly from the web panel.
In most cases on the first use. If your database has 15% or more invalid numbers and the cost of your SMS exceeds €0.03, the savings on the first send exceed the cost of validation. A base of 100,000 contacts with 20% invalids means €1,000 wasted per campaign at €0.05/SMS, compared to €220 for MNP validation.
If verification is done via API, we do not store any contact data. For file validations, the data is stored encrypted on servers in the European Union following the GDPR regulations, and is only accessible by the account holder with access credentials.
Yes. For mobile numbers, the accuracy is 100% since we consult the operators’ network directly. For fixed numbers we also carry out verification, with reliability levels that depend on the country and the operator that manages the number.
Databases degrade by approximately 20-30% per year: numbers that are deregistered, ported, or logged with errors. For databases with more than 500,000 contacts, we recommend quarterly validation. For smaller bases, before each massive campaign is sufficient. With API integration into forms, the foundation is kept clean from the source.
